Application rates are used to calculate the amount of water applied on fields by multiplying the application rate by the time the water is flowing. These values are used on the map, in reports, irrigation activity, and will be used in more cases as time goes on. In order to have the most accurate information it is important to add the actual application rates based on your systems instead of relying on default or generic values. Follow the steps below to add Application Rates.
Navigate to hub.semios.com
In the left-hand panel, select “Settings” near the bottom of the panel.
Select “Emitter Configuration” under “Water Management” on the left-hand side.
If you already know the application rate you can enter it in the box. (The application rate is usually listed on the system design that was provided when the system was built.) Make sure you are using the proper unit.
If you do not know the application rate, select the blue “Rate Calculator” button to calculate the application rate based on some design parameters.
Here you will need to enter a few measurements in order to calculate the application rate.
Number of lines - The number of irrigation lines delivering water at one time. For example, in a double-line drip system, you would enter 2.
Emitter flow rate - This is the rate that each individual emitter puts out at one time. For example a common flow rate for drip irrigation is 0.53 gph.
Emitter spacing - what is the distance between each emitter. This is highly variable, but for drip it is usually between 24” - 40”. Microsprayers are a much larger spacing. Make sure that the value you enter here is in inches, not feet.
Row Spacing - This is the distance between each row. Be sure to enter this number in feet.
After these values are entered the application rate will calculate. You can copy this rate to enter in the appropriate blocks.
If you have a lot of values to enter, for example. You are setting up your farm for the first time, select “Bulk Edit”
Bulk Edit allows you to enter the application rate into the top application rate box, and applying it to multiple sets at one time by selecting the box next to appropriate sets and the selecting “Apply”.
